Four Olympians and Right To Play Athlete Ambassadors arrived in Jordan on April 15 for a nine-day visit, the first phase of a cultural exchange program that focuses on Sport for Development, and the inclusion of girls and children living with disabilities in sport and play activities. The program allowed children and Coaches to connect with the Athletes as role models, facilitated learning across cultural boundaries and created strong bonds between Athlete Ambassadors and staff across Right To Play’s global network... read on for more

Petra
5/9/2009
My real introduction to the beauty of Jordan came with watching the sunrise over the Red Sea from my hotel room and then witnessing the unique beauty of Petra. But first… just because I am halfway around the world does not mean that I get the week off, so at 5am after listening to the call to prayer over the city and watching the sun come up, I head down to the hotel gym to get some work done… then back to experiencing Jordan.

A new adventure
4/6/2009
Another amazing season has completed, filled with some serious ups and downs, World Cup podiums, a new trick, a few crashes and everything that comes along with making sure to be completely prepared for next year’s Olympic season. I am now in Park City and back in the gym with our strength coach Tschana, but in a week will be taking a bit of time out of the gym before what will be a very busy summer. The most exciting part of my spring, is that I finally have the amazing opportunity to participate, hands on with the organization Right to Play; to interact with and make a difference for the some of the world’s most disadvantaged children. To me this upcoming trip is part of the full expression of who I strive to be as an athlete, and I couldn’t feel more honored to be one of the athletes selected.

As an athlete and an Olympian, my life is dominated by flipping and twisting on skis. I wake up thinking about aerials, eat meals, go to the gym, wax my skis, train, get injured and recover, lift weights, travel, compete, visualize, watch video etc, etc, etc…each day with the intention of doing even better jumps the next day. Now, I know that in the big picture of life a flip and a twist with skis on is not a truly “important” thing, but to me the sport represents much more than that...
