Fall training 09
9/30/2009
What an amazing fall it has been! As I sit in my house and type this journal entry, I am watching a serious snowstorm out my window. Yes, it's Spetember 30th and it is dumping snow in Park City! I personally am pretty psyched about this, despite the fact that I still have a week and a half left on the water ramps. This season, snow just makes me giddy. Anyways, check out this cool segment that was aired on Last Call with Carson Daly last night... read on for the link and training update.

Chicago travel
9/12/2009
I've just returned from a whirlwind of a media summit in Chicago the past two days. It was fun, but definitely kind of exhausting and I am happy to be back in Park City and back in my routine. I've attached an article written by Aimee Berg and will post some new pics from Chicago photo shoots in the next few days, so check back in. Summer is slowly starting to turn into fall, but I still have a few weeks left on the water ramps to refine jumps and make sure they are ready for winter, and I'll be spending more and more time in the gym getting my body ready for the season. So, check back in for more news soon, and read on for Aimee Berg's article, Cook: Mending the Mind, plus a blog: "Turning off the Cynicism" from LA Times writer Helene Elliot...

Special Olympics Fundraiser
8/24/2009
U.S. Freestylers Emily Cook and Speedy Peterson are used to high-flying flips and daredevil feats. Speedy, in fact, has completed (and landed) quadruple-twisting triple flips. But this week the Olympians and Freestyle Aerials World Cup winners went down instead of up, and rappelled down a 200-foot building in Salt Lake City, as part of a fundraiser for the Special Olympics. The athletes were only connected to their life force by a rope, and when Speedy got half-way down the side of the Grand America Hotel, he stopped and hung upside down for a little while, to take in the view.

For those who missed it, you can find the Today Show piece here. Watch teammate Jeret "Speedy" Peterson and me teach Natalie Morales to jump! ...Being on break was great, nice and relaxing, but it's great to be back in Utah and I am so psyched to start jumping again tomorrow. I went on a hike yesterday in the Albion Basin at Alta and found some snow! It felt like fall, chilly with that fresh mountain air feeling. Crazy, but it got me really excited for the snow to fly and the season to start!
